Inauguration of Brühl town hall

Open day for the citizens

The town hall in Brühl has been reopened since the end of 2023. This was duly celebrated today: In the morning, a time capsule documenting the new building was laid in the reading courtyard in front of the children's library in the presence of Mayor Dieter Freytag. Our Founding Partner Frederik Jaspert and the project team were also present.

At the same time, the public was invited to take part in guided tours of the civic building during the open day. The listed old building was renovated and extended according to the JSWD concept. The new building now houses the city library's wide range of services over four floors. The extension continues the cubature of the historic town hall and blends sensitively but also confidently into the small-scale character of the old town. The cladding of light-colored clinker brick, which extends to the roof surfaces, reinforces the steel strength of the new urban building block.

The redesign of the adjacent Janshof will create a green, largely car-free urban space by the end of the year. The RMPSL office is responsible for the open space planning and has been our planning partner since the competition in 2017.
