Janshof at Brühl town hall

New square design by RMPSL and JSWD is inaugurated

In Brühl near Cologne, the existing town hall was renovated in line with its listed status and extended to include a new building with a public library. This was preceded by a competition in 2017, which JSWD won in collaboration with landscape architects RMPSL.

The redesign of Janshof, which is adjacent to the town hall extension, breaks up the backyard situation and creates a high-quality, car-free urban space. Numerous shady trees, seating and a fountain invite people to linger.

The new town square was opened to the public today in the presence of Mayor Dieter Freytag and City Manager Marion Drewski.
