A model of the district town hall will be on display
For the 24th time, the Rodenkirchen neighborhood in southern Cologne is transforming into a decentralized gallery. From April 24 to May 9, nearly 30 shops, cafés, and restaurants in the neighborhood will exhibit paintings, sculptures, and photographs. We at JSWD have been supporting the Rodenkirchen Art Mile as a sponsor for years. The new Rodenkirchen District Town Hall we designed (currently under construction) is itself an exhibit: A 1:200 scale model illustrates the urban context. The future layout, featuring a car-free town square, is also visualized. Both can be viewed in the Sommershof shopping arcade.
Art and architecture can enrich each other wonderfully—as seen, for example, in the Neuer Kanzlerplatz office district in Bonn. There, Jeppe Hein has installed his “Mirror Pavilion.” The structure reflects the façade developed by JSWD on the spirally arranged stelae. The Danish artist worked closely with us during the design process.
