District City Hall in Cologne-Rodenkirchen
JSWD is designing an open, citizen-friendly building with high sustainability standards for the City of Cologne. The latest aerial photos show that structural work is progressing well.
At the transition to the low-density residential development of the adjacent “Auenviertel,” there is space for a public green area. The new path connects the square to the banks of the Rhine within walking distance—so the so-called “Riviera” is right nearby!
The car-free neighborhood square being built in front of the district town hall will become the new gathering place for residents of Cologne’s southern district.
Thanks to the building’s planned energy supply system—which includes a heat pump, ice storage, and a photovoltaic system—the project was recognized as the first “Energy-Efficient Non-Residential Building” by the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs as early as 2025.
