Goldbeck high-rise in Bielefeld

Exhibition opens – 3rd prize for JSWD

The Goldbeck Company held an architectural design competition for a 12-story office building at its headquarters in Bielefeld. The project is intended to serve as a reference building for the company’s new high-rise construction system. JSWD was awarded third prize in the competition.

Positioned as the northern gateway to the existing lower campus, the proposed building creates a strong urban presence. The design is based on a composition of stacked volumes that gradually taper toward the top, emphasizing verticality and enhancing the perception of height. Three strategically placed roof terraces introduce outdoor spaces at different levels.

The high-rise is conceived as a multifunctional platform. In addition to serving as a showroom for Goldbeck products, it accommodates a wide range of event formats and provides attractive workspaces. Flexible floor plans support both open-plan and cellular office configurations, while also allowing for the integration of conference and event areas.

A circular aluminum facade with a high proportion of recycled materials, efficient support structure systems, and non-toxic interiors made from renewable or recycled materials will reduce embodied carbon emissions. Building operations are designed to be climate neutral.

The exhibition accompanying the competition will be on display at the Bielefeld Technical City Hall until April 10 during regular business hours.
