Two Awards at the 2026 Iconic Awards

Our Brühl City Hall is a “Best-of-Best”

Our Our architectural approach approach to the historic city hall in Brühl’s pedestrian zone impressed the international jury at this year’s ICONIC AWARDS. The building was not only renovated in accordance with historic preservation standards and remodeled to meet the current needs of administration and citizen services, but also expanded to include a public library.

The square behind this new building—the Janshof—was transformed from a parking lot into a car-free, green urban plaza. For this project, we collaborated with the landscape architects at RMP Stephan Lenzen.

In addition to the “Best-of-Best” award in the Public category, the project was also named “Winner” in the Architecture – Innovative Material category. This additional award recognizes the exceptionally fine detailing of the library’s brick facades. What makes this particularly special is that the same material was also used for the roof cladding, giving the building a monolithic appearance.

The awards ceremony took place at BMW Welt in Munich and was hosted by Jeanette Kunsmann, editor-in-chief of DETAIL magazine.

We are delighted by this recognition of a project close to our hearts—our sustainable contribution to the renovation of existing buildings and the appropriate-scale redevelopment of Brühl’s historic district.
