A new Convention Center for Vilnius

5. Rang beim internationalen Wettbewerb in Litauen

5th prize in an International Competition in Lithuania

Together with the local firm Cloud Architektai, we participated in the international competition for the new Vilnius Congress Center. The goal is to create a prestigious venue with a capacity of 4,500 attendees that positions Vilnius as a leading city in the Central and Eastern European conference market.

Our design strengthens the relationship between the public event venue and the surrounding urban space, creating a new symbol for a modern, open, and green European capital. The distinctive architectural form, with its two opposing pent roofs, creates a high degree of recognizability within the cityscape. At the same time, the building’s volume blends harmoniously into its surroundings and pays respectful homage to the nearby Parliament building. The publicly accessible rooftop landscape creates spacious areas for relaxation and gathering and offers spectacular views of the surrounding city and the natural landscape along the Neris River. The inviting, glass-enclosed foyer also faces the water.

A total of 28 firms participated in the anonymous competition, of which 17 designs were recognized as qualified. The jury, chaired by City Architect Laura Kairiene, has now reached a decision. We are pleased with our 5th-place finish.

We would also like to thank our specialist consultants: RMP Stephan Lenzen (landscape architecture), PKi (energy consulting), and Werner Sobek AG (facade + structural engineering).
