Restoration of scale and new connection to the banks of the Rhine
The revitalization of Friedrich-Ebert-Platz in the Porz district of Cologne is bringing the human scale back to the fore. And this in a place where for a long time a large department store blocked views as a foreign body and whose ruined building created spaces of fear.
The urban planning by JSWD puts the focus back on the quality of life and creates living, living and shopping on a scale appropriate to the suburb. We developed the underlying feasibility study together with moderne stadt, the urban development company of Stadtwerke Köln and the City of Cologne. JSWD was also responsible for the general planning of the residential and commercial building 1 (for moderne stadt) and the underground parking garage for the district.
Our founder Konstantin Jaspert will talk to Andreas Röhrig, Managing Director of moderne stadt GmbH, about scale in urban design at the official opening of the entire project.
