JSWD and GINA entrusted with Expansion
The historic concert hall situated directly adjacent to the Bremen Cathedral is being renovated and receiving a modern extension. After impressing the jury in February with our competition entry, which we created together with @ginabarcelonaarchitects, we have now received the official go-ahead from our client, the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
Our design for Die Glocke is comprised of a geometrically clear structure that is seamlessly integrated into the heritage-protected building on Domsheide Square. The copper roofs of the surrounding buildings – a typical characteristic of the region – anchors the building in the location while at the same time setting it apart thanks to its hipped roof structure with skylights.
The new Music Experience Room (MER) creates opportunities for new event formats like workshops, making Die Glocke fit for the future.
