3rd PRIZE in the general planning competition
A new building complex is to be built for the district and regional courts and the public prosecutor's office in Cologne. Our concept envisages accommodating the various functions in separate buildings. This puts the building mass into perspective. It creates greater proximity to the citizens, also because the staggered buildings are visible from the main road and a public network of paths runs through the ensemble. On level 0, a spacious, daylit main thoroughfare connects all the buildings. It is possible to change the spatial structures without major intervention in the building fabric.
JSWD collaborated with Gina Barcelona and the landscape architects from Greenbox in the two-stage general planning competition. The awarding authority was BLB North Rhein-Westphalia.
