We are delighted to have been recognized.
The task was to plan a new town hall for the flood-damaged town of Euskirchen. According to our concept, the City Forum blends into the existing topography and acts as an urban link between the new town hall and the planned urban expansion to the east. Visitors coming from the north and south will be guided to the terraced, car-free quarter square in an open gesture. The open and inviting foyer guides visitors into the event hall. The checkrooms and catering facilities are also located on this level. The conference level with the council chamber forms the upper end of the building. The terrace in front of it becomes a city loggia.
The façade with its robust, low-maintenance expanded metal structure as a rough shell is contrasted by a soft core with wooden surfaces in the glazed foyer. The translucent metal façade serves as permanent sun protection. A photovoltaic system is planned for the roof surfaces.
The open space concept provides for three green terrace gardens around the public building, which act as local climate islands.
