The newly constructed office building for the regional administration of AOK in the City of Essen marks the start of the new city quarter, 'Essen Green Centre'. Here, a vivid mix of office, hotel, residential and university areas will be developed along an already created park featuring water expanses.
The selected block structure mirrors the organisational structure of the AOK regional administration consistently. The building appears as a clearly arranged stone structure with large openings. The differently coloured entrance zones are set off in the structure, thus adding an independent and representative note to the building. They also support the sculptural character and independence of the structure. This effect is also supported by the set-offs on the 4th floor, which enables a generous roof terrace with an open view onto the park and Berliner Platz. The ground floor will be used for public facilities such as customer centre, foyer, postal and IT services while the upper floors will house flexibly useable office space.
