New building Eye and HNO (Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic) and MKG (functional area mouth-jaw-face)
Client: UKSH University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein
Under construction since 2023, completion planned for 2028
As part of a PPP process, a large number of buildings on the UKSH Campus Kiel are being newly constructed, refurbished and renovated. Part of this master plan includes the modernization of the existing buildings to create a future-oriented eye and ENT clinic - for both patients and employees of the university hospital.
In addition to the new ENT and eye clinic, an extension of the dental, oral and maxillofacial clinic (ZMK) is being built in place of an existing building that can no longer be maintained.
The outpatient clinics and polyclinics - ENT, eye clinic and the MKG (functional area oral and maxillofacial) - will be centralized on the first floor of the new building. Levels 1 and 2 are intended for patient rooms. The ordinariates as well as rooms for teaching and research will be located on level 3, the rooms for speech therapy on level 4.
All operating theaters are located on the 1st basement level and are directly connected from there to the adjacent operating theater area of the existing building to the west.
The façade concept continues the corporate architecture of the 2019 expansion of the main University Hospital building.
