Offene Lernlandschaft für den neuen Stadtteil von Konstanz

This year, the city of Konstanz held a competition for the construction of a new six-form all-day school with a triple sports hall in the Hafner district. The jury has now announced JSWD as the winner. We are delighted with this success!

The five-story buildings will be integrated into the steeply sloping topography of the site. Our concept envisages dividing the building volume into a main structure composed of two cuboids, which will house the school facilities and the sports hall. The positioning of the building means that the southern part of the site will remain undeveloped. This is where the school playground will be located. It will connect the two planned green corridors of the new district and the outdoor sports facility like a hinge.

The school is planned to be climate-neutral. Thanks to its compact design, efficient traffic areas, integrated sustainability approach, and material-appropriate construction, the building has the ideal foundations for creating a resource-efficient, economical, and, above all, durable building.

The outdoor facilities were developed by the landscape architects at RSLA Rainer Schmidt in collaboration with us. We were advised on structural engineering by AWD Ingenieure.

JSWD has already completed several school projects in recent years. The Elsa Brändström Secondary School in Rheine is currently under construction.
