Private residential House
BDA Cologne Architecture Award KAP 2017
A historical carpenter’s workshop has been restorated and re-used as a little hotel. In addition a neighbouring gable-end onto street building has been erected. Both buildings in combination with another perpendicular part of the building compose and emphasize an internal court. This particular arrangement produces an exciting composition especially by using small-scale structures with gabled roofs surrounding the courtyard.
Both the scale and the character of the gable-end onto street "fishing house" are sustained by the development of the new building. Though, the new frontage will differ in materiality and colour to keep its own quality.
